The NEBOSH National General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety is aimed at those with health and safety responsibilities (eg. managers, supervisors and employee representatives) to enable them to discharge more effectively their organisational duties and functions. The NEBOSH National General Certificate is one of the most recognised qualifications in the health and safety profession.
The course provides a solid foundation in health and safety, covering 11 modules comprising.
NGC1 – Management of Health & Safety
Element 1 – Why we should manage workplace health & safety
Element 2 – How H&S Management systems work & what they look like
Element 3 – Managing Risk – Understanding people & processes
Element 4 – Health and Safety Monitoring and Measuring
NGC2 – Controlling Workplace Hazards
Element 5 – Physical and Psychological Health
Element 6 – Musculoskeletal Health
Element 7 – Chemical and Biological Agents
Element 8 – General Workplace Issues
Element 9 – Work Equipment
Element 10 – Fire
Element 11 – Electricity
The course is assessed by
The qualification involves a 129 hours of learning study and preparation (although this figure will depend upon experience).

Fee: £450+VAT per delegate
(plus £140 NEBOSH registration and exam fees, if taken at an Altruisk examination venue – this is paid seperately)

The NEBOSH takes your health and safety knowledge to a higher level, helping you effectively manage and advise on risks in the workplace. It will advance your skills as a health and safety practitioner and increase confidence in your abilities. In addition, the NEBOSH National General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety is accepted by IOSH as meeting the requirements for Technician Membership (TechIOSH).
The course is assessed by;
NG1 OBE – a formal written Open Book Exam (OBE) which must be completed within 24 hours of release (4hrs work), and
NG2 Risk Assessment – Practical report (4hrs work) to be completed and submitted by the candidate after the course
The exams are taken online from a computer/ laptop connected to the Internet. The NG1 OBE is released at 9am GMT on the exam day and you have 24hours to upload your completed script. The NG2 Practical must be uploaded within 10 working days of the NG1 OBE exam day.
The flexibility of this qualification allows you to complete it in a time period to suit candidates. Normally this will be between six months to one year but depends upon your current workload and the amount of time each candidate can contribute. The qualification involves a 129 hours of learning study and preparation (although this figure will depend upon experience).
You will be assigned a designated Diploma Tutor who will monitor your progress throughout your learning. They will provide you with an induction, and they will mark your completed assignments and provide feedback, and will respond to your questions and queries when necessary.We will do our very best to ensure you are well prepared for gaining the qualification.
There are no formal entry requirements for this qualification, however, it would be advisable for candidates to already hold a health and safety qualification such as the IOSH Managing Safely or equivalent.
